Delores Barton
Biography
Ms. Delores K. Barton V.P. & Chief Information Officer Spelman College Ms. Barton joined Spelman College as the Chief Information Officer in 2002. Prior to joining Spelman College, she retired from the IBM Corporation after 31 years of service. While at IBM, she held numerous technical and management positions. Prior to retiring, she was the Global Executive in ibm.com responsible for skills and professions. She is a graduate of Clemson University. Her responsibilities at Spelman include all administrative and academic technical planning and support. Ms. Bartons philosophy can be summed up in two phrases: It Takes a Team and Exemplary Customer Service. Ms. Bartons leadership style is collaborative and her actions strongly underscore her belief that through teamwork anything is possible. Her organization is customer-focused, encouraging both formal and informal feedback from faculty, staff and students. She has been a member of numerous business and professional organizations and the recipient of many honors and awards. Most recently, she was a 2005 Georgia CIO of the Year finalist and the recipient of the IBM Atlanta Black Networks first Legacy Award, recognizing longstanding commitment to ensuring diversity at IBM. She is currently a sitting member of the Microsoft Higher Ed Advisory Group.EDUCAUSE Presentations
