Diane Kubarek

Biography

Diane Kubarek is the director of the Office of Web Communications, in the Division of University Communications, a position she has served since October 2004. Diane joined the OWC in June 2004 as program manager for the main University Web site, www.cornell.edu. Over the summer of 2004 the site was completely redesigned from the ground up, in collaboration with Cornell Information Technologies. As director, she works on building infrastructure that will benefit Web sites throughout the University, contributes to major communication initiatives such as the inauguration of Cornell's next president and disaster relief efforts, and contributes to college-wide cross-media marketing strategies for colleges and other units. Her office oversees the growth, development, and maintenance of all content in the main University Web site, maintains relationships with content providers throughout the University to keep current, fresh content flowing into the site, and works to build and support Cornell's widely dispersed community of Web developers. Prior to joining the OWC, Diane spent over 12 years supporting faculty use of technology in instruction through Cornell Information Technologies' Academic Technologies group. She taught numerous workshops, did one-on-one consultations with faculty, and managed several Faculty Innovations in Teaching grants that introduced new technologies and new pedagogical approaches into law, math, and engineering classes. She also managed the CyberTower project (http://cybertower.cornell.edu/) from 2000 through 2004, and produced many video-based content pieces with Cornell faculty through that project. She maintains an interest in instructional design and instructional applications of technology, and is always looking for ways to feature rich content on the Cornell main site.
