Doris Kirby
Biography
Doris Kirby is the director of Information Technology Policy and Legal Compliance at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is responsible for development and coordination of information technology (IT) policy and compliance with various federal laws affecting IT.Prior to joining Emory, she served as executive assistant to the president for Legal Affairs at The University of Memphis for twelve years. During her last three years at The University of Memphis, she focused primarily on intellectual property and other legal issues affecting IT.
She served as a federal district court law clerk to the Honorable Julia Smith Gibbons, now of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced as an associate attorney with two Memphis law firms prior to joining The University of Memphis.
Ms. Kirby is a member of the Policy and Legal Issues Working Group of the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force and serves on the board of the Institute for Computer Law and Policy at Cornell University.
