Doug Kahn

Biography

Doug Kahn has been with Suffolk County Community College for 15 years. He has served in a number positions of progressively growing responsibility, including: Managing learning management and academic computing systems; Project Director for the college's SCT Banner ERP implementation; directed their data center during which major portal development and hardware infrastructure upgrades we accomplished. Prior to joining Suffolk Doug's professional background included accounting and IT management at Doubleday Bookshops, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Metropolitan Life Insurance. His area of expertise is in strategic management, business process redesign and project management. Since 1998 he has maintained a consulting practice specializing in these areas. He maintains a strong commitment to the State University of New York. He presently serves SUNY as Chairman of the Executive Board for the Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC), as a member of the FACT2 Advisory Council, on the planning committees for the Conference on Instruction and Technology, SUNY Technology Conference and is an active board member of both the Educational Technology Officers Association and Computing Officers Association. Doug is a frequent speaker at regional conferences on the subjects of Strategic Planning, Management of Information Systems and Management by Objectives. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching in the departments of Business Administration and Computer Science at Suffolk. He completed his MBA in Information Systems at Dowling College in Oakdale, NY. Doug is active in his local community having served on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations.
