Biography
Doyle Friskney held the position of Chief Technology Officer, 2000-2017. Dr. Friskney’s career focused on the intersection of learning and technology. His research emphasis focused on the impact of the learning environment on student success. Currently a faculty member in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky and a Senior Fellow at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. As the CTO Dr. Friskney was responsible for managing a research university enterprise cyber-infrastructure, campus learning spaces, campus mobile infrastructure and technology systems. Extensive background in all areas of the university’s learning environment, including IT infrastructures: networks, research computing and instructional computing. Comprehensive experience working with higher education administrators and faculty to create and fund complex IT projects. Responsible for Internet2 programs and projects. Participated with the Council of Postsecondary Education and public universities to create a regional optical network to support the university’s research mission. Appointed by the Governor to the Communications Advisory Council for the state of Kentucky
