Andy Clayton

Biography

Dr. Andrew Clayton is an Assistant Professor of leadership at Air University (AU) and Chief of Experiential Learning and AI adoption. He serves as AU’s leading advisor and researcher on the application of immersive technology and extended reality (XR) simulations for the human domain. He is a 1999 Purdue University graduate with a Master's in Adult Education and Training. Dr. Clayton is certified as a Master Instructor and Distance Learning Instructor and holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education. He served in the United States Air Force as an active-duty maintenance officer, an academic affairs officer, and a master instructor in the Air Force Reserve Command. Dr. Clayton has been a master instructor, course director, program manager, and academic advisor for 15 years at Air University. Dr. Clayton is the Air Force’s lead expert in developing mixed-reality avatar conversation simulations and immersive multiplayer educational role-playing games (MPERPGs) that have evolved into several applications across the Air Force and Air University.
