Susanne Thompson

Biography

Dr. Susanne H. Thompson serves as the President, Teacher Education for the Colibri Group which includes Teach-Now/Moreland University.

As a career educator, Susanne served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Northwestern Lehigh School District in Pennsylvania.  She began her career as an elementary teacher and then worked as an Educational Consultant and Coordinator for Professional Development with the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit in Pennsylvania, then served as a Middle School Assistant Principal, Director for Curriculum & Instruction as well as an Assistant Superintendent. 

An expert in organizational leadership, academic literacy, curriculum development, technology integration, e-Instructional course design, and professional learning, Susanne has been honored to lead curriculum design and writing teams as well as large teams of professional development experts.  This work consisted of online, hybrid, in-person, and synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. 

A business leader and senior executive at Discovery Education for nearly 12 years, Susanne led all aspects of Discovery Education’s Higher Education Network.  Susanne served as Chief Operations Officer for the Corporate Partnership Team and led the global Professional Development Business as well as Discovery’s Educational Sales and Marketing Teams in the western half of the U.S. and the U.K.  All these responsibilities included overseeing large teams of employees to ensure teachers and students had the highest quality instructional resources and support, while growing business goals.

Presenting at the Launch of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in Cairo, writing for the Teach Secondary publication in the UK, serving as the keynote presenter during the National Digital Week in Ireland, engaging with key members of the House of Commons at Westminster in London, serving as an adjunct faculty member at several U.S. universities, and teaching in Australia are some of Susanne’s career highlights.  

Susanne and her husband, Mark, split their time between Washington D.C. where their two adult sons and daughter-in-law live and Chapin, SC where they reside on Lake Murray.
