When MOOCs (massive open online courses) emerged to great fanfare in 2011–2012, colleges and universities wrestled with how to best approach this new development in online learning, a development that promised to vastly increase access to education.
BiographyElly Schofield works as an instructional designer at Harvey Mudd College. Formerly the director of Harvey Mudd's MOOC project, she enjoys collaborating with faculty to create learning tools that engage and support their students. As a Harvey Mudd alumna, she combines her technical knowledge from her mathematics degree with her training and experience working with education technology to support faculty in a variety of fields. She is in the process of completing an online M.S. in Instructional Design through Walden University.
