Beth Van Gordon

Biography

During more than three decades with Indiana University, Beth Van Gordon has managed and directed support for learning technology operations, telecommunications, university information services, and administrative and academic IT services. In 2008, Van Gordon became Chief Information Officer for Indiana University Northwest and continued her role as IU's Director of Learning Technology Operations overseeing digital media production services, classroom technology services, and STCs (Student Technology Centers) on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. During her tenure as director, her vision guided the implementation of support services for IU's instance of Sakai, known as Oncourse, and the implementation of IU's iTunes U gateway and IU's podcast portal. In 2009 she became the Chief Information Officer for Indiana University Kokomo and in 2011 Indiana University South Bend was added to her portfolio. In her current role as campus CIO for three of Indiana University's regional campuses, she identifies and communicates the technology implications for strategic goals, and serves as an advocate for the development and use of information technologies to assist the university in fulfilling its teaching, research, and service mission. She anticipates changes and emerging trends in information technology. Her responsibilities include operational, strategic and fiscal planning for all aspects of technological innovation, advancement and implementation of information and communication systems.
