Eric Palmer

Biography

Eric is the Director of Web Services at the University of Richmond. In this role, he oversees the public web infrastructure for the institution, including the centralized content management system and all back-end technology for more than 135 web sites. Working closely with University Communications, Eric is co-strategist and scrum coach for a combined web team consisting of developers, designers, writers and more. Previously, he has been a consulting Environmental Engineer, the founder of two software consulting companies, a project manager, and software project lead on multiple commercial software projects for industry (including the first near-real-time, microprocessor-based, industrial waste treatment control system). In more recent history, Eric has led a large team of software developers and business systems analysts in building and maintaining a banking e-commerce system. Eric has been a bank compliance advisor, corporate privacy director for a multi-company bank, and a project lead on several multi-company banking projects. Eric holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Clemson University and an M.S. in Environmental Systems Engineering with a minor in River Basin Planning from Clemson University. He is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and previously was a Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). In 2006, Eric joined the University of Richmond and realized he had finally "come home," fulfilling a long-held interest in working in higher education. In his spare time, Eric promotes STEM education for K-12 students, mostly through the FIRST Robotics program as a FIRST Robotics coach, mentor, judge, tournament organizer, and robot inspector.
