Biography

Strategist with substantial board level experience in ICT, Internet, education, research, digital culture and creative industry. Focus on new business and new opportunities. Has extensive national and international network. Experience with management, Internet governance etc. Focus on developing and building partnerships and developing and using new technologies. In 2014 I got inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame. In 2015 I was honored as "ICT Personality of 2015" by the Dutch ICT sector. Furthermore I am currently chairing the Dutch national IPv6 Task Force. I am chairman of the Board of Enset (enset.ngo), I am on the Advisory Board of Internet Society Nederland and the board of ecp.nl. Previously I served as Area Director for the Applications area of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and as such as a member of the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG). I was a member of the Internet Architecture Board and I was chairman of the Internet Research task Force (IRTF). Previous board positions: Board of the Public Interest Registry, Board of Trustees for the Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland, chair of the Board of Trustees of Stichting NLnet, the board of IIP Create, the Board of Directors of Eurofiber, member (later chairman) of the board of the Amsterdam Digital City (DDS), chairman of the board of The European Internet Seminars Foundation, the Dutch Expert Group on Broadband, a member of the commissie Andriessen, Internet Society international, Stichting Breedned. I am also a pioneer member of the Internet Society. Co-founder of Electronic Commerce Platform NL, PI-lab and Internet Society Nederland.
