Biography

Faby M. Gagné, Ph.D. is the founding Executive Director of SNHU Labs, the Research and Development unit at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). She oversees a team committed to surfacing the requirements needed to build a future learner-centered ecosystem by experimenting with emerging technology and new learning models. She joined SNHU in 2015 as the Institutional Research Analyst for College for America, the university’s competency-based program, after 15 years of teaching and engaging in research. Faby holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Social Psychology from McGill University. Her teaching career began in 2001 at Marianopolis College located in the heart of Montreal. This was followed by a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship and visiting scholar position at Wellesley College where she examined personality differences and social support in goal pursuit strategies. In 2015, she was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award by the University System of New Hampshire. She was recently recognized as a New Hampshire Innovator by the Union Leader and her team’s innovative work has received several awards. Her academic work on decision-making and goal implementation won the Society of Experimental Social Psychology Dissertation Award, was recognized by the John Templeton Foundation and the Canadian Psychological Association, was published in top-tier journals such as the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and was featured in the New Yorker and The Chronicle of Higher Education. The work has been supported by Google.org, the Hewlett Foundation, the March of Dimes Foundation, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and the Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l’Aide à la Recherche (FCAR).
