Faisal Khamis
Biography
Dr. Faisal Khamis joined the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College, Canada, in 2019. He has been a professional educator since 1992, with over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, university, and community service. He is an associate professor of statistics. He graduated from Baghdad University with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in statistics in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He earned a Ph.D. in statistics from the National University of Malaysia in 2008. In 2019, he earned the Internationally Trained Professional Cooperative Education Program certificate from the Brian J. Fleming Learning Center in Canada. He has been teaching 29 different courses in statistics, data science, mathematics, operations research, software applications, and research methodology at the undergraduate and graduate levels at 18 worldwide universities and colleges in seven countries. In the 2017/2018 academic year, he was recognized as in the top 5% of the educational evaluation level at Al Ain University, UAE.
Dr. Khamis is an Accredited Professional Statistician awarded by the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC). He is an active Chartered Statistician awarded by the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) and a Chartered Scientist awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), UK. He is a consultant in statistics, according to the RSS directory. He is a Certified Data Scientist awarded by Data Science Central, USA. The Scholars Academic and Scientific Society, India, has awarded him the title of SAS Eminent Fellow Member (SEFM). He has published 30 research papers in internationally refereed journals and delivered approximately 20 presentations at international conferences on applied multivariate statistics, mortality, sociology, economics, public health, and spatial and temporal statistics.
Dr. Khamis is currently an editor-in-chief, associate editor, and reviewer for about 40 international journals. He also served on organizing and scientific and academic committees at multiple universities. He is a Certified Publons Academy Peer Reviewer, UK. He is a mentor at TRIEC, Canada. He is a member of about 34 professional associations and societies, such as ASA, RSS, SSC, CAUT, IMA, and ISI. His interests are scientific writing and applying statistics in all disciplines. Therefore, he has been engaged in collaboration with researchers from diverse fields.
