Floyd Davenport

Biography

I am the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology for Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau MO. My interests include the efficient business operations for the university; the infrastructure to support the campus community and emerging technologies and methods for effective teaching and learning. Career Accomplishments I have 33 years experience supporting the use of information technology encompassing computer support, training, software and web development, online educational technologies, and sustaining core infrastructure. The last 25 years have been in higher education, starting at the University of Illinois, then Iowa State University, then moving to Washburn University and now here at Southeast Missouri State University. I have been very fortunate in my career for opportunities to combine leadership positions with hands-on technical responsibilities. This has given me the opportunity to develop my technical skills while also learning to develop teams, manage resources, cultivate partnerships and build capacity. University life has been a great fit for me, providing a broad range of technologies, great people, a true sense of community, and an industry that serves the general public. I currently live in Cape Girardeau MO with my wife and I have two wonderful grown children. I enjoy reading, working to keep current on technology as well as swimming to keep fit.
