Biography

Fred Brittain is the Associate Chief Information Officer for the University of Maine System. He oversees multiple UMS campuses and their Campus Information Technology Officers, all front-line support, and various enterprise level functions serving the entire system. Fred has served in varying capacities within the University of Maine System since 1994 except for a brief stint in the private sector in the late 90's.

Having served on executive cabinets at multiple campuses, he bridges technology with strategic direction making IT more than a utility but a partner in moving forward the University's mission. As a completely unified IT organization across the University of Maine System, Fred's role includes leading large projects, organizational design and direction, and ensuring well-managed and close relationships exist with the campuses at all levels.
