Fritz Hjardemaal

Biography

Fritz Hjardemaal leads the IT Service Desk at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which provides IT support to 30,000 clients. Fritz recruits, trains, schedules the workflow and supervises the full-time staff and student technical assistants across two Service Desk units. Fritz ensures effective coordination of IT Service Desk efforts, while identifying opportunities to better serve the UNC Charlotte community. In addition to leading the IT Service Desk, Fritz serves as interim Training Manager. In that capacity Fritz is tasked with envisioning and implementing faculty and staff development training plans that meet the University technological needs, as well as individual Department technological requirements; continually updating training plans in accordance with changing needs and growth of the University. Fritz's responsibilities also include managing training assets such as Training room, Learning Management Systems, Adobe Connect servers, Content creation software (Adobe Presenter) and vendor relationships. Prior to his current role Fritz managed UNC Charlotte's Student Computing Help Center that serviced current and prospective students as well as alumni. Fritz also managed the 24/7 ITS computer labs, including the provision of ADA compliant assistive technologies to meet the growing technology needs of the student population. Some of Fritz's current interests include cloud computing, information security and IT Service Management.
