Gail Scanlon

Biography

Gail Scanlon is the Academy Librarian at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. She is delighted to be working at the Louis Kahn designed Class of 1945 Library at Phillips Exeter Academy ; the largest secondary school library in the world. For close to 18 years Gail held numerous positions at Mount Holyoke College, most recently as the Director of Access and Technical Services in Library, Information and Technology Services (LITS). Gail was part of the original management team that merged Mount Holyoke's Library and Computing divisions in 1996/1997. She brought together the Circulation, Reserves, ILL and Media Resources departments to form an Access Services unit, which combined services points and unified policies. Gail is a proud member of the Frye Institute Class of 2002 where she focused her project on "Library as Place". She was a member of the MISO Team from 2007 - 2010. Gail holds a BA from Mount Holyoke College and an MLS from the University at Albany, SUNY. In her former life she was a Registered Nurse.
