Garret Sern

Biography

Garret Sern is a Government Relations Officer for EDUCAUSE, analyzing and reporting to its membership on a wide-range of IT issues impacting the higher education community. He currently is facilitating the Advanced Core Technologies Initiative (ACTI), a new EDUCAUSE enterprise bringing together higher education IT professionals to tackle technical challenges. He also continues to serve as the staff liaison for the EDUCAUSE Campus Cyberinfrastructure Working Group. Prior to EDUCAUSE, Garret worked for FARNET, the Federation of American Research Networks. He continues to leverage his expertise on state and regional networks for EDUCAUSE. He also has five years experience working for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) in directory publishing and has worked on several successful electoral campaigns in the state of Maryland. Garret is an alumnus of Loyola College in Maryland, and the American University where he earned an MA in International Communication.
