George Trone

Biography

George A. Trone is a higher education/nonprofit executive with expertise in governing boards and data governance. In 2010, he joined the University of Chicago where he currently serves as Senior Associate Secretary of the University and Chair of the University Data Stewardship Council. Since 2016, he has also served as board secretary to the UCM Care Network Affiliated Physicians LLC and related entities as part of the Clinically Integrated Network at the University of Chicago Medical Center. From 2000 to 2010, George had roles as Assistant to the President, Program Officer, and Grants Database Manager at the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation in Flint, Michigan. Before joining Mott, he managed the ITS Education Program at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. From 1994 to 1999, he taught Italian language and literature at Yale and Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. George has an AB with Distinction in Italian Studies (Phi Beta Kappa) from Stanford University and an MA, MPhil, and PhD in Italian Language and Literature from Yale. From 1999 to 2010 he served as managing editor of The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine and also served in 2002-2003 as an advisor on the E-Language Learning System project for the U. S. Department of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education.
