Biography
Gerard Au serves as Interim Chief Information Officer at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). He leads technology operations, administrative computing, and the information security portfolio at CSUSB. With over twenty-two years of progressively responsible IT experience, Gerard served in leadership roles in two of California's public higher education systems (California State University and University of California). Prior to joining CSUSB, Gerard spent nearly 14 years in various roles at UCLA, as well as two years in the private industry.
Gerard is an active participant of EDUCAUSE. He serves as faculty for the Data Governance Essential Learning Lab and have previously served as institute faculty for the Senior Directors and New Manager Institutes and is a graduate from the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute. He co-founded the Asian Pacific American Community Group also serves on the Analytics & Research Advisory Group amongs other panels. Gerard has demonstrated results in direction setting, managing complex projects, and improving operation efficiency that yielded significant savings. He has proven success in implementing and managing administrative systems, as well as instructional and distance learning technologies. He also possess expertise in higher education governance and healthcare systems and policies. Specialties: Strategic IT planning, leadership, project management, cloud strategy and implementation, system design and implementation, instructional technologies, distance learning, server migration, healthcare IT.
