Gerry White
Biography
Gerry is dedicated to teaching to ensure that his students build the critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills needed to succeed in the future. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Old Dominion University while studying English Literature, Music, Philosophy, and Religous studies. He is passionate about language and writing, and this is from where his passion for teaching English grew. "Communicating in multiple media and genres, and to diverse audiences, is imperative to an individual's success. Fostering students' curiosity and connecting the writing and work we do in the classroom to students' home and professional lives allows them to synthesize what they learn with what they do. This helps create a lifelong learner."
Gerry is also passionate about music, art, and the Humanities at large. "Arts & Sciences are the cornerstones of everything we do and teach. They lay the foundations for our futures." Whether teaching art, music, philosophy, or religion in a Humanities course, Gerry enjoys facilitating the students' understanding of theirs and others' cultural identity. "Learning the similarities as well as the differences in the growing cultural diversity in our world, and their historical perspectives, strengthens a much-needed empathy in our modern era. This helps sculpt an essential cultural consciousness and symbiotic awareness of how the decisions we make today, especially those concerning technology and our environment, will evolve and impact our lives and culture as a whole in the future."
His current work and passion is driven by modern mobile, mixed, augmented, AI, and other technologies & their implications on and benefits to education, information, individuals, business, and our society. He enjoys working with students on programming, game and app development, and other emerging and future AI technologies that here. Gerry recognizes and harnesses the transformative power of new technology in education. He spearheads initiatives to integrate cutting-edge educational software and innovative learning tools into the curriculum, preparing students for the digital age.
He is committed to shaping the future of education by integrating the rich tapestry of humanities with the possibilities of technology. His holistic and innovative approach to teaching prepares students for a complex, interconnected world, inspiring them to become lifelong learners.
