Gregory Smith

Biography

Greg will take on the role of Interim CIO at Western Washington University in June of 2016. Currently he is helping launch a national nonprofit based on monetization of donated items via online sales such as eBay. After resigning as the Chief Information Officer at Missouri University of Science and Technology located in Rolla, MO. Greg backpacked the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon and Washington for the rest of 2015. Greg joined S&T after serving as the CIO at George Fox University from 2004 to Feb. 1, 2013. While at GFU he was a member of NWACC Executive Committee and the CCCU's Commission on Technology. Greg came to the Northwest from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology in Indianapolis, IN. where he served as the Director of IT for 8 years. Prior to the IT career in Academia, Greg was a Systems Consultant with Hewlett-Packard primarily with the Analytical Group working out of San Francisco, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Other jobs included IT activity in the Oil Shale and Coal Mining industries of Colorado along with owning a computer store in Steamboat Springs, CO. Prior to the IT careers, Greg was a Chemist for various electric power generating companies.

Greg served on the Board of Directors for Missouri's Great Circle http://www.great-circle.org and served as Chairman of the Board for GEOAID International.
