Biography

Danny Miller serves as the System Chief Information Security Officer (SCISO) for the Texas A&M University System (A&M System), which encompasses 11 universities, 8 State of Texas agencies, and 3 administrative organizations.  He leads all cybersecurity strategy, regulation, policy and standards for all A&M members and is the founder and Chairman of the Shared Services Cyber Operations group, which includes a Security Operations Center (SOC), an Incident Response (IR) group and a Cyber Intelligence group for the A&M System membership and some external clients.  Danny founded A&M’s Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO) which is connected to the State of Texas and serves as a clearinghouse of cybersecurity intelligence for the entire State of Texas.

Most of Danny’s prior experience has been in the private sector and he has fulfilled several information technology roles.  Prior to his current role as SCISO at A&M System Danny was a partner in a firm headquartered in Philadelphia where he and two other partners launched and operated an international consulting firm, specializing in business consulting and IT solutions.  Danny acted as Chief Operation Officer for that firm and then along with the other two partners, sold the firm to Grant Thornton, LLP. 

As Principal in Grant Thornton’s Business Advisory Services group in the Philadelphia office, Danny was Practice Leader for the group and National-Partner-In-Charge for Grant Thornton’s cybersecurity practice.  Previous to his role in Grant Thornton, he fulfilled roles as Chief Information Officer and other technical roles in banking, oil & gas, manufacturing and retail.

Danny is a member of the Texas CISO Council, the Texas Cybersecurity Council, a member of the Texas Statewide Information Security Advisor Committee (SISAC), founder of the local InfraGard Special Interest Group for Brazos County, Texas and a member of the Greater Houston Cybersecurity Council (Cyber Houston). He also most recently has joined the State of Texas’ Threat Intelligence sub-committee whose goal is to effectively share and disseminate threat intelligence to all State of Texas entities.  Danny also serves as a private consultant and advisor to a number private sector firms and is on various boards.

Danny also is a lecturer in the Bush School of Government & Public Service, assisting Dr. Danny Davis with his class on Homeland Security and Public Policy as it regards cybersecurity.

Danny is a certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO), a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), holds two certifications in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices, certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), certified in the Governance in Enterprise IT (CGEIT) and certified as a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) through PCI Security Standards Council.  In 2022, he completed his Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Grand Canyon University and Georgia Institute of Technology.
