Hale Thomas oversees the Instructional Computing environment in the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona. This environment actively serves the Colleges writing, second language, linguistics, and cultural studies instructors and researchers with educational resources, computing classrooms, research tools, and instructional development support. Recent instructional projects have include the development of language placement exams for incoming students, facilitating the prescheduling of incoming freshmen into classes during freshmen orientations, and the development of a second language chat application that provides students, instructors, and researchers with real-time data analysis and transcript information. Campus-wide service has included actively participating in the development of the UA Campus Network Master Plan, and serving as Co-Chair of the Deans Information Technology Council. Hale is currently working on an MA degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Arizona.
