Hampton Sublett

Biography

Hampton is the Director of the Office of Strategic Solutions at UC Davis. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the implementation of a broad range of project portfolios that directly impact the long-term financial sustainability of UC Davis. To date, almost $3M/yr in hard savings has been generated, while implementing more than a dozen initiatives focused on efficiencies (soft savings). The goal by 2023, is to generate $20M annually, which is tracking ahead of schedule. Prior to accepting this role, he was appointed by an Associate Chancellor to help lead a 2-year initiative aimed at analyzing the university’s central administration and to drive improvements in both operational efficiencies and organizational effectiveness. Hampton’s professional roots however, are based in IT program and project management, having established the university’s first central IT Program Management Office in 2011. Before joining UC Davis in 2005, for 7 years, he held several IT leadership positions within San Francisco-based high-tech start-up companies. Hampton earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications from Boston University. More recently, he’s been certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Although raised in the coastal mountains of northern California, he’s traveled and lived abroad several times, before settling down with his family in the foothills of the Sierras Mountains.
