Hany Elgala

Biography

As an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University at Albany #UAlbany - State University of New York (#SUNY), I have over 18 years of experience in conducting cutting-edge research and teaching in the field of #wireless #communications and #networks with a focus on optical transmission and #5GB #6G #NextG networks.

Principal Investigator and Founder of the #Signals and #Networks Laboratory #SINE at UAlbany.

Recipient of the #Humboldt experienced researchers fellowship. Funded by #NSF, #AvH, #ASPIRE, #CTG, #MTA.

My research interests include visible light communications (#VLC) & #LiFi, joint communications, sensing and physical layer security, artificial intelligence #AI and machine learning #ML for communications and networks, hybrid wireless networks, Internet-of-Things (#IoT) deployments, ultra-wideband (#UWB) and backscatter communication, and electromagnetic fields (#EMF) exposure.

I have published multiple papers in prestigious journals and conferences, and have been awarded several grants and patents for my innovative work. I am also passionate about mentoring and inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists and have developed and taught courses on #ML for engineers, #digital #communications, #signal #processing, and #digital #systems.
