Heather Gordon

Biography

Heather Gordon is the Director, Library and Information Services and Deputy Head, University Services Division at James Cook University. Heather leads the Library & Information Services Directorate and as Deputy Head, assists the Division to plan, and evaluate the delivery of key services and infrastructure to the University and is responsible for the ICT Projects Office. Heather has held senior roles in government and academic institutions in Australia, Canada and the United States. Prior to her appointment at JCU, she was the Foundation Librarian/Executive Director at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Library Science degree from The University of Western Ontario. Heather was a selected participant in the respected Academic Library Management Intern Program sponsored by the Council on Library Resources completing her internship at Duke University in the United States. Heather has been a board member for several professional organizations including the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) 2006-2010 and the Queensland University Libraries Office of Cooperation (QULOC) 2004-2006. She is currently on the following committees: CAIRSS (CAUL Australiasian Institutional Repository Support Service), CAUL Copyright Committee, Universities Australia Copyright Expert Reference Group, Australian Academic & Research Libraries journal editorial committee and is a reviewer for EDUCAUSE Quarterly. She is a member of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
