Biography

Heather Myers is an instructional designer with the College of Online Education at Johnson & Wales University. Before coming to JWU she worked at Pearson as a senior media project manager working on the customization and design of Pearson’s media offerings, including electronic textbooks and MyLabs. Prior to that she worked at WGBH as a special project assistant to interactive department, which is where she started with instructional design. Heather has been working in instructional design for over 8 years, and received her M.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University in 2014. In addition to her work in instructional design, she also has a Master’s degree in Anthropology and has been teaching classes in Anthropology, both in a traditional classroom setting and online, for over seven years. Heather is passionate about finding creative and engaging ways for students to learn and to demonstrate that learning. Having a deep background in the theater arts, she feels that teaching is another form of storytelling; one in which the students help to create their own stories about the topics we teach and their lives. She feels that learning should be interactive and engaging, allowing students to express their knowledge and understanding in meaningful and creative ways.
