Biography

Heather Ruland Staines, Ph.D., is Director of Partnerships at Hypothes.is, an open source annotation/collaboration provider working in the education and publishing spaces. Her previous experience includes Director, Publisher and Content Strategy at SIPX (and subsequently ProQuest SIPX),  eOperations and Global eProduct Manager, SpringerLink, at Springer Science + Business Media, as well as Editorial Director, Praeger Security International. She received her Ph.D. in History from Yale University, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She works with many industry groups, including the American Library Association, the Society for Scholarly Publishing, the STM Association, NISO's Transfer Standing Committee, and Project COUNTER.
