Helen Mohrmann

Biography

I began working in higher education in 1997 at Cornell University. Prior to that I had worked in the financial services industry.  I joined Cornell as the Director of Administrative Computing just after they had signed their contract with PeopleSoft.  Later I served as the Director of Networking & Data Centers at Cornell.

I was also the CIO at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. which is a think tank - a university without students (but with lots of interns).  Security came to dominate my job there because state sponsored actors always wanted to read the email of our scholars - many of whom came from senior positions in the U.S. or foreign governments.

I am a native of Austin and so the job opportunity at the University of Texas System was a natural fit.
