Helina Hoyt

Biography

Since 2007, I have served as the San Diego State University-Imperial Valley Nursing Program Coordinator.  I currently teach in both the RN-BS in Nursing and Master's of Science in Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems programs.  I am actively engaged in both the Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District Multidisciplinary Research Council and the El Centro Regional Medical Center Research Council.  I currently serve as the Chair of the Imperial County Community Health Improvement Pla Steering Council and work with the Imperial County Local Health Authority to promote health and wellness in our rural, border region.  In 2018, I completed a PhD in Education through SDSU and Claremont Graduate University.  My dissertation involved a Virtual Standardized Patient through the Microsoft HoloLens to compare various pedagogical methods regarding knowledge and skill development for high-risk, low-frequency scenarios.
