Hongtao Dang

Biography

Dr. Hongtao Dang held a Ph.D. degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Iowa State University with approximately five years of teaching experience and six years of professional working experience. At Iowa State, Dr. Dang taught Project Management for Civil Engineers (CE 306) and Senior Design (CE 485/ConE 487 Capstone). Joining Central Washington University, Dr. Dang teaches the following courses: CMGT 265 Construction Documents, CMGT 267 Plane Surveying, CMGT 442 Building Services Systems, CMGT 450 Soils and Foundations, CMGT 481 Senior Design (Capstone), and CMGT 485 Construction Finance and Business Management.

Dr. Dang is a registered Professional Engineer, Green Associate in Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED), and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP). He worked two years in each of the following areas: roads and bridges (infrastructure), power plants (industrial), and hotels (commercial). Dr. Dang advocate for sustainability and cost-efficiency in both engineering and construction and promote diversity and inclusion in both workforce development and business enterprise. His research interests are 1) disadvantaged business enterprises in construction, 2) Drone and VR Technologies, 3) Modular Construction for Smart Buildings, and 4) Integrated Project Delivery Methods.
