Hope Botterbusch

Biography

Ms. Botterbusch's professional experience includes over 40 years in public, private, adult, college and university education. That experience includes K-12 classroom teaching, school library media specialist, district-level curriculum supervisor, college and university instructor, administrator and program manager. Ms. Botterbusch is a published author of computer software, educational materials, peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters about the management of school library media centers and ethical and legal issues in teaching with and in virtual platforms. Ms. Botterbusch has been an educational copyright specialist for over 30 years. Her qualifications in this area include: 1) course work at Stetson University College of Law; 2) past chairperson of the Copyright Taskforce for the Association for Educational Communications and Technology; 3) coordinator of the "Copyright & You" column for the professional journal Tech Trends: and 4) extensive research, writing, and teaching about the educational fair use of copyrighted works. In 1994, Ms. Botterbusch had the honor of authoring and presenting the Association of Communications & Technology's "Perspective on Copyright" at the Educational Fair Access and New Media National Conference in Washington, D.C. As a result of this conference in 1997, the New Multimedia Fair Use Guidelines were introduced to Congress. Ms. Botterbusch's contribution is reflected in the "10% rule" of the guidelines. Ms. Botterbusch holds degrees in Education (BS) with a focus on educational media from Millersville University, Millersville, Pennsylvania and Library Science & Information Sciences (MSLS) from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. She also earned 15 post graduate hours in an Informal Science Education program from the University of South Florida and has earned 59 post graduate hours in various educational disciplines. Ms. Botterbusch serves as a part-time Education/Information Specialist for Guided Particle Systems, Inc., a private advanced technology company.
