Imani Akin
Biography
Dr. Imani Akin’s teaching and leadership experiences include serving in charter, parochial and public elementary and high schools within suburban and urban school districts. She joined the University of Phoenix, NW Indiana campus in 2009 teaching a graduate level course on special education and serving as a field supervisor in a blended learning environment, trained and transitioned to total online instruction in 2013. Dr. Akin developed and facilitated national professional development from 2011 -2014. Served as mentor for teacher candidates for the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She joined American College of Education, Ed.S and EDD Program, Department of Leadership as adjunct in 2015 as adjunct faculty; 2016 - Instructional faculty; 2017 Academic Curriculum Director; 2018 Research and Dissertation Coach. In 2018, she was awarded a grant to conduct research to explore doctoral degree graduate experiences. Dr. Akin’s national and international workshops and scholarly publications are centered on solution-focused approaches to enhance the actions and skills which contribute to teacher effectiveness and readiness to support a diverse population of learners.
