Biography

Chris Smith is the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at Southern Methodist University and has served in various security leadership roles, including Interim CISO and Sr. Security Architect, since initiating the Security program in 2000. At SMU since 1993, prior roles in Network Engineering and Linux Infrastructure provided the opportunity to shape the direction of campus IT. Before joining SMU, Chris served a short research career at Yale University Medical School, followed by an even briefer stint in corporate IT at Northern Telecom. Chris holds multiple SANS, ISC2, and other technical certifications, has a M.S. in Security Engineering from SMU, a B.A. from Oberlin College, and is a graduate of Hopkins School in New Haven, CT.
