Jack Maness

Biography

I have over 20 years' experience in libraries in both staff and faculty positions. Since 2017 I am responsible for DU Libraries efforts in scholarly communications and collections, from acquisition and licensing to description, access, discovery and use. My publications include works on libraries as organizations, technical infrastructures, ethics, information literacy, linguistics, user expectations, collections as data, and two works of fiction. I sit on the editorial board for Library Leadership & Management, NISO's Information Policy & Analysis Committee, WEST's Operations and Collections Council, and frequently review for several journals, including College & Research Libraries. I have won awards from the Johns Hopkins University Press, the International Earth Data Alliance, the American Library Association, and the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities. I was born and raised in the Denver area and enjoy just about anything related to the written word or the outdoors.
