Jim Thomas

Biography

Mr. Thomas received his BS in Business Administration and his MPA in Public Administration from Indiana University. He has over 30 years of experience in the information technology field. Experienced leader with a passion for building highly motivated, collaborative, and effective teams across cultural and geographic boundaries. Particularly adept at leading change, problem solving, and building relationships. Motivated by the challenge of resolving seemingly impossible situations. 

Jim enjoys building solid trust relationships, inspiring and motivating teams, developing people, coaching and mentoring leaders, solving problems, continuous improvement, open source software, software development, enterprise scale ERP, enterprise application integration, data center operations, customer service, leading change.

Jim is Director of Enterprise Infrastructure supporting enterprise application integration and middleware solutions as well as software engineering tools and standards. Responsible for enterprise data warehouse/ETL, enterprise systems administration, database administration and storage and virtualization. Manage key software and hardware vendor relationships supporting middleware, integration and infrastructure.

Enterprise Infrastructure serves all eight IU campuses made up of over 100,000 students and over 20,000 faculty and staff. EI supports over 4,500 virtual machines distributed between the Bloomington and Indianapolis data centers and two petabytes of Tier 1 storage replicated in real time between two IU data centers consisting of 100% high-density Flash Storage. EI specializes in scalable, efficient, reliable and high availability infrastructure and software.
