James Carlisle

Biography

James has more than 20 years of technical and leadership oriented higher education experience. He currently serves as Director of Director of Enterprise Applications. Previous positions held include Interim Director of Institutional Research, Interim CIO, Interim Assistant CIO and Director of Technology Support Services at Georgia College. In the Enterprise Applications role, James manages the team that supports the Banner student information system and other enterprise systems developed in house at Georgia College. James sustains the Administrative Systems and Banner Advisory Committee structure. James is responsible for general management of assigned IT projects following general industry standard processes, such as those in the PMBOK Guide, with emphasis on the University's current use of Ellucian Banner enterprise information systems. He performs project management duties such as preparing project plans, establishing and coordinating project teams, estimating resource requirements, managing the project planning and implementation process, communicating with project teams, steering committees, and management. James supports an IT Division Process Management Program consistent with best practice models of IT continuous process improvement. In the role as Director of Institutional Research for Georgia College James oversaw the department responsible for collecting and analyzing data needed for strategic planning, assessment, and policy analysis at GC. The Office also handles requests by outside agencies and organizations for information about Georgia College. James also has over 10 years of experience teaching technology related classes at the High School, Technical College and University level. His previous experience was in industry working for an Internet solutions provider that provided outsourced solutions such as ISP services and hosting services.
