Jason Fish is the Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies at Purdue University. He is responsible for supporting and enhancing teaching and learning through the pedagogical use of technology that is usable by all instructors and students. His group focuses on instructional design, faculty professional development, and finding or building new technology to meet the universities vast and ever-changing needs.
This paper focuses on mobile apps directly related to the educational institution and downloaded through an app marketplace for the purpose of providing a service to the institution.
Quality communication between faculty and students in higher education is critical and considerably influences students' intellectual growth, but it is not easy to achieve, particularly when faculty teach large lecture courses.
