Jay Craggs

Biography

Jay Craggs has a broad background in technology, education, and the music industry. Jay earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from UW-Whitewater and his Master’s degree in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago. As an educator, Jay has developed curriculum and taught digital audio, MIDI, signal flow, music business, music technology, and music theory courses for Columbia College, Madison Media Institute, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In applied technology, Jay has worked as a freelance technical consultant and recording engineer. His projects include album work, radio and TV jingles, video underscoring, and post-production. Jay's technical background is also in demand in facilities installation work and by national recording artists. As a technical consultant, Jay has worked with national acts Prince, David Bowie, Rush, Tom-Tom Club, Night Ranger, Living Colour, and Al DiMeola. He has published a number of music and technology-related magazine articles and has done technical writing for musical equipment manufacturers. As a guitarist and composer, Jay has recorded and/or shared the stage with many jazz notables including Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Shew, Ritchie Cole, Dennis DiBlasio, Frank Mantooth, Chris Vadalla, Jeff Tyzik, and others.
