Jeannine Shantz
Biography
I am Director of Research, Evaluation and Assessment at Drexel University's Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship, where I lead strategic assessment initiatives such as AACSB accreditation efforts. In addition, I oversee all instructional technology projects for both credit offerings and executive education.
My 20+ year career spans industry, K-8, and higher education, beginning as a music educator before transitioning to system designer and technical support lead for multiple tech startups and eventually to educational technology and institutional research roles at Saint Joseph's University and Drexel University in Philadelphia. I hold complementary master's degrees in Business Intelligence & Analytics and Instructional Technology, along with graduate certificates in Data Science and Cyber Analytics. My background combines industry experience, education, and data analytics.
EDUCAUSE Leadership and Contributions:
I served as a panelist for the 2025 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report: Data and Analytics Edition, contributing to the development process through research and evaluation.
As an active EDUCAUSE contributor since 2018, I have served as Conference Session Proposal Reviewer, EDUCAUSE Review Advisory Committee member for Teaching & Learning and Data Analytics, and member of the Open Educational Extended Reality Resources working group. I currently serve as co-Community Administrator for Microsoft Tools in Education. At the 2024 Annual Conference, I presented "Unveiling the Open Educational Extended Reality Library with Insights from a Global Survey," work that resulted in a co-authored EDUCAUSE Review article (October 2024).
Research and Technical Contributions:
I am an active researcher in the ASKLab research lab under Marcello Balduccini, PhD. I currently collaborate on interdisciplinary research and have co-authored papers exploring ways of expanding the NIST Cyber Physical Systems Framework to strengthen supply chains and to provide guardrails for industry AI adoption. I contributed to ISO/IEC TS 24462:2024 as a Technical Committee Contributor. Currently, I am supporting a project exploring the potential of humanoid robot use to enhance the day-to-day activities of adults with autism.
As an educator, administrator, and researcher, I approach educational technology and AI implementation from a practitioner's perspective.
