Library Perspectives on the EDUCAUSE 2019 Top 10 IT Issues
In 2019, EDUCAUSE brings librarians’ perspectives into the mix of the annual Top 10 IT Issues list, adding their views on three of the issues.
Jeff Steely is Dean of Libraries at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Prior to his move to GSU, Jeff served for nearly 16 years at Baylor University, Waco, TX. His roles there included Associate Dean and Director of Central Libraries (2012-2015), Assistant Dean & Director of Central Libraries(2010-2012), Director of Central Libraries (2009-2010), Assistant Director for Client Services (2002-2009), head of the Baylor interlibrary loan office as Outreach Services Librarian (1999-2002). Prior to working at Baylor, Jeff was Serials Librarian for the Library of the U.S. Courts in Chicago (1998-1999). Jeff has made presentations at the Re-Think It Conference, Cross Timbers Library Conference, Taiga Forum, the Innovative Users Group annual meeting, the Colorado Interlibrary Loan Conference, the TexShare annual meeting, the Amigos annual conference, the ALA Annual Conference, and Computers in Libraries. He has also served as a trainer and consultant on resource sharing issues. Jeff is a graduate of Bethel College (KS), holds an MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin, and has completed his coursework in pursuit of an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. Jeff served as 2015/2016 President of the Library Leadership and Management Association, a division of the American Library Association.
