Biography
Jennifer (Jenny) Allen, Ed.D., M.Ed., is Director of the Office of Wellness and Academic Support (OWAAS) and an Instructor of Medical Education at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota. In her leadership role, she advances institution-wide strategies to support learner well-being, academic success, and equitable access across the health professions education continuum.
Dr. Allen is recognized for her work at the intersection of education, well-being, and workforce development, with a focus on creating inclusive learning environments and strengthening systems that enable learners to thrive. She leads multidisciplinary teams providing mental health support, disability access services, and academic skill development, aligning these efforts with broader institutional priorities for learner success and belonging.
Previously, Dr. Allen served in Advanced Digital Education, where she contributed to the Mayo Clinic Harper Family Foundation Artificial Intelligence Education in Medicine Program. In that work, she helped advance education in the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, supporting workforce readiness and the development of “fusion skills” needed for the future of healthcare.
A scholar, educator, and frequent presenter, Dr. Allen has contributed to national conversations on medical education innovation, digital learning, and learner support. Her work includes published scholarship on learning environments and professional development, as well as presentations on topics such as emotional intelligence, virtual teamwork, and educational design
Dr. Allen has held a variety of roles spanning human resources, leadership development, academic advising, and curriculum design. She earned her Doctor of Education in Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Master of Education in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota.
