Jerry Perez

Biography

Jerry Perez, M.B.A., Ph.D. Professor of Practice, University of Texas at Dallas Jindal School of Management and Director of Cyber-Infrastucture Research Computing, University of Texas Office of Information Technology. Dr. Perez's experience also includes 14 years adjunct teaching in Management Information Systems, Object Oriented Programming, Video Game Design and Programming, Human Computer Interfaces, and Big Data Analytics. He has 8 years corporate experience as Senior Product Engineer Technician at Texas Instruments Incorporated. He holds a BS in Organizational Management, an M.B.A. with Management Information Systems concentration and has completed a Ph.D. in Information Systems. Jerry has authored or co-authored several papers on the implementation of computational grids, cloud storage systems, distributed systems development, research data management, macro-financial analytics within the banking industry, and supercomputing deployments to support a variety of specific application areas, including digital rights, security, physics, bioinformatics and engineering. Other synergistic activities include: participation in the development and deployment of a multi-organizational campus-wide compute grid at TTU (TechGrid); lead for deployment of commercial grid technologies with the TTU Rawls College of Business, TTU Institute for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, TTU Institute of Geographical Information Systems, Whitacre College of Engineering with the Texas Tech Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, TTU Library, TTU Chemical Engineering department, TTU Physics department, TTU Department of Computer Science, and TTU Department of Mathematics and Statistics; collaboration in SURAgrid (Southeastern Universities Research Association Grid), including contribution to the white paper, SURAgrid Authorization/Authentication: Concepts & Technologies and a textbook to teach deploying regional university grids titled: The SURA Grid Cookbook and software stack lead for SURAgrid. Jerry was selected as one of 20 winners of the Top Twenty Young Professionals under the age of 40 in Lubbock, Texas for 2007.
