John Klein

Biography

I have been working in the computer industry since 1978 as a student. I started professionally as a computer operator in 1979. From there I worked to complete my college education in Computer Science. In 1988 I earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In 1989 started working at Grand Valley State University. At GVSU I started working in PC support. Through the years I managed the Computer Store, worked in technical support, and then, while working on my Master of Science in Computer Information Systems in 1996, I worked in Internet Services. This is when Information Technology started to work with web support, content, and AV streaming technologies. I completed my M.S. Degree in 1999. Since then Information Technology has provided the resources to develop online presentation of video course materials, live web video of many campus events, and support of our course management system, Blackboard. Currently I am the Associate Director of Academic Services. My staff and I are responsible for GVSU's A/V technologies, Computing and Technology Support, Internet Instructional Systems, and the training of faculty and staff in existing and new technologies and software.
