John Gibson

Biography

John Gibson has taught business and information technology courses for Glendale Community College since 2000. He is a Maricopa Institute for Learning (MIL) Fellow, a member of the Maricopa District OER Steering Committee, GCC Curriculum Committee, and GCC Center for Teaching, Learning, and Engagement Advisory Committee. In addition, John is co-Director of the new Healthcare Technology Systems program and a long-time partner with the CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise. He has presented at conferences on topics such as digital visual literacy, virtual enterprise experiential learning, open-entry/open exit mastery learning, and group decision support systems. Prior to working at Glendale Community College, John consulted on virtual university initiatives at Arizona State University, managed several college IT organizations, sailed the world with Semester at Sea, and was a member of the Colorado Fast Track business development program. He grew up in Ohio and Europe, graduated with a BS in Education from Bowling Green State University, earned a MS in Business & Computer Information Systems from Colorado State University, and taught for the University of Northern Colorado. John lives in Phoenix with his wife and daughter and enjoys travel, photography, book clubs, hiking, outdoor adventure, music, and dance festivals.
