Jon Dunn

Biography

Jon Dunn, Assistant Dean for Library Technologies, oversees information technology development and operations for the IU Libraries, including technical support, systems administration, software development, and digital collections services. Jon has worked with the IU Libraries for more than 20 years, beginning in the Music Library as technical director for IU's groundbreaking Variations digital music library project, moving to the Digital Library Program at the time of its formation in 1997, and eventually joining the Library Technologies division. He has served as principal investigator and project manager on numerous grants and has written and presented on a wide range of digital library and library technology issues including music digital libraries, audiovisual preservation, repository systems, and integration of library services with learning management systems. He is a member of the Open Repositories steering committee and Fedora Leadership Group, and he has also served on the steering committee of the International Conference on Music Information Retrieval. He also currently serves as director of the Avalon Media System project, a collaboration between IU and Northwestern University to develop an open source system for providing online access to audio and video collections, funded in part by a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
