Biography

Joseph Gunnells joined the D’Youville University team as the Information Technology Director in April of 2019, providing strategic oversight of campus wide information technology activities, initiated IT, and non-IT committees, and working with IT service Departments across the University.  Promoted to CIO in 2020, Joseph’s focus is on building a team of highly motivated Team and created the first University’s IT Outreach Program and has many Community Partnerships.  Joseph is also a recent graduate of the 2020 Leadership Buffalo Program.

Joseph brings 30 years of experience in the field of information technology and has a diverse background in both non-for-profit and private sectors, with extensive experience in IT Management and Leadership. At D’Youville University, Joseph oversees the Information Technology Pulse Center division, which includes the IT Tech Lounge (Helpdesk), Administrative Computing, Process Improvement, Networking, Project Management, and Instructional Technology & Support, as well as sets IT direction and infrastructure throughout the Campus.

Previously, Joseph was employed as the Information Technology Director at Hospice Buffalo, a non-for-profit organization located in Buffalo, New York.  Prior to working in the non-for-profit arena, Joseph worked as the Director of Technology for a private Healthcare Company, headquartered in San Francisco, California.
