Joe Kalinowski

Biography

Since elementary school, Joe has had a passion for helping others leverage technology in innovative ways to empower themselves, meet individual goals, and foster the mission of their organizations.  He is currently the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO at Clark University, a private research & liberal arts university in Worcester, Massachusetts.  In this role since September 2019, Joe oversees the strategic direction and operational management of the university’s IT services and information security.

Joe has over 25 years of experience applying technology to solve challenges within higher education, having previously served in roles involving IT infrastructure, information security, and academic technology at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Over his career, Joe has led initiatives using technology to transform distance and hybrid learning, expose data and analytics across a collegiate environment, implement new academic programs, provide governance and project portfolio management, secure and add resiliency to critical infrastructure, and bridge information gaps in support of strategic and operational initiatives.  He fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, transparency, and humor among his teams.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Business Administration from Clark University.  He is also involved in local youth sports and being the voice of high school football.  In a previous life Joe has been a Technical Director for community theater, where he began using technology to help tell a story.
