Josh Baron, who is currently serving as the Apereo Foundation's Development Officer, has more than 20 years experience working within and leading open source software projects within higher education. This includes serving on the Sakai and Apereo Foundation Board of Directors, including as Board Chair, and was Principal Investigator on the Open Academic Analytics Initiative (OAAI), which was supported by a Next Generation Learning Challenge grant funded, in part, by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Mr. Baron has also worked in the open education sector having served as Executive Director for Partnerships at Lumen Learning, a digital OER courseware provider whose mission is to reduce the cost of education while also improving student outcomes. Prior to his current role at Apereo, Mr. Baron served as a Senior Program Officer for the HBCU Digital Learning Infrastructure initiatives at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is also the President and Founder of Baron's EdTech Consulting. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BS in Aerospace Engineering, holds a MS in Educational Technology Leadership from The George Washington University through their nationally recognized online degree program.
